HELPA by Kristína Šipulová:

HELPA dress is named after a Slovakian village where Kristína Šipulová visited a pleating manufacturer. The HELPA slip-on dress is a beginner-friendly pattern! You can choose a smaller ease for a snug fit or a larger size for an oversized look. The pleats are the signature feature of this minimal dress, creating a beautiful silhouette. Šipulová used techniques like weaving, bobbin lace, and hand- pleating in her work. HELPA is inspired by folkloric clothing: garments that are passed down from generation to generation

The black sample is made from 100% linen (5.9 oz/200 gsm) and the white sample is made from a light cotton crepe. Both fabrics are from the designer’s stash.

The SOLVI jacket is available in Issue No.4 and as home print pdf pattern.

SOLVI by Vanessa Hansen:

SOLVI is designed by a Swedish pattern designer and textile artist Vanessa Hansen. She started her sewing journey as a small child, watching her mother. You can make your version from boiled or felted wool without facings, or choose a nice medium weight linen or cotton with facings. The jacket is designed to be worn open. However, you are able to adjust it closed! Hansen has worked for labels that make clothes e.g for Michelle Obama, but also designs patterns for home sewers: “It's incredibly rewarding to see people of different ages and body types make my designs.”

The light yellow sample jacket is made using an Armani 100% knitted boiled wool (10.6 oz / 360 gsm) from Tygverket that Vanessa hand-dyed with lichen (Parmelia saxatilis). The light grey sample is made using “Hopea”, a herringbone linen blend (50% linen, 50% cotton, 4.3 oz/145 gsm) by Kultavilla from Named.

The SOLVI jacket is available in Issue No.4 and as home print pdf pattern.

TULIP by Floriane:

TULIP was designed by Floriane, owner of the French sustainable clothing and sewing brand "Lysimaque". Floriane learned to sew from her grandmother, whose mother was a seamstress. The TULIP pattern comes with two options: cropped or uncropped. You can easily lengthen the hem to create a longer blouse – or even a dress. These round, puffed sleeves have beautiful slits that are delicately joined by two small buttons. The lovely balloon sleeves are almost like petals of a flower! Choose a light-weight cotton voile for an airy and summery shirt or medium-weight cotton to provide a bit more structure. Printed, floral, or vintage fabrics will give the garment a deliciously retro look.

The toile de jouy printed sample is made from light cotton voile from Docks des Tissus. The yellow sample is made from “Tottorri Cross Mustard” (cotton seersucker, 2.95 oz/100 gsm) by Merchant & Mills from Materials Helsinki.

The TULIP blouse is available in Issue No.4

KYRANA by Andini Wijendaru:

KYRANA is designed by Andini Wijendaru, maker based in Indonesia who works with traditional textiles as a way to preserve local, artisanal traditions. The KYRANA design is inspired by classic 1960s style and popular colors of the era. It combines the freeing look of the A-line silhouette, the fun and youthful spirit of the mini dress or ruffled skirt, and the hippie style of the tunic cut. Choose flannel, twill, or lightweight wool. For the blouse, you can use lightweight fabrics like viscose. From just one pattern, you can make a variety of unique pieces and combine them in limitless ways!

The sample navy blue maxi dress is made from organic melange flannel (100% organic cotton, 8.7 oz/295 gsm) by Lebenskleidung. The sample olive green tunic dress is made from “Tottorri Cross Green” (100% cotton seersucker, 2.95 oz/100 gsm) by Merchant & Mills from Materials Helsinki.

The KYRANA pattern is available in Issue No.4

TWOSOME by Cris Wood:

TWOSOME skirt is designed by Cris Wood, the sole designer for Cris Wood Sews, based in Seattle. The TWOSOME results from her desire for basics with a twist. You can make this versatile garment in many different fabrics and wear it year-round. In her designs, Cris prioritizes accessibility: designing with no size limits and always with beginning-level sewists in mind. Cris is inspired by clean lines, clever construction, and the unconventional. She believes that the future of fashion design is moving towards ecological responsibility, and she encourages members of the sewing community to consider their person- al sewing footprint. She’s proud to be part of the zero- and minimal-waste pattern movement.

The petrol blue sample is made from “Organic Cotton Poplin Diesel” (3.7 oz/125 gsm) by Merchant & Mills from Lilly Paris. The light grey sample is made from a woven vintage fabric (100% cotton, approximately 4.7 oz/170 gsm).

The TWOSOME skirt is available in Issue No.4 and as home print pdf pattern.

JASMIN by Floriane:

JASMIN is Floriane’s second design for this issue. Floriane loves handmade slow-fashion garments and enjoys mixing vintage and modern Japanese inspiration. JASMIN a fully lined mini skirt with a panel structure and slits in the front seams. You can always adjust the length of the skirt and the slits according to your personal preference. And there’s lots of room to vary the style depending on the fabric you choose: satin or linen for summer, jacquard or wool for autumn or winter. Choose medium weight to heavy non-stretch woven fabrics such as cotton canvas, quilts, jacquard, or wool.

The mustard yellow sample is made from “Organic Sanded Twill” (12 oz/410 gsm) by Merchant & Mills from Materials Helsinki.

The JASMIN skirt is available in Issue No.4

TAURUS by Vivian Shao Chen:

TAURUS is designed by Vivian Shao Chen, an architect and independent knitwear and pattern designer based in Philadelphia. She is interested in wearable silhouettes with refined proportions and simple but thoughtful details. The TAURUS coat’s timeless look is not too difficult to make for intermediate-level sewists. The coat can take on either a casual or more refined look depending on your fabric choice. Choose a structured wool for a warm and elegant coat, or use a twill or denim for something more casual. The overall silhouette is balanced to not feel too oversized. The TAURUS coat is an elegant everyday coat, designed with simplicity and versatility in mind!

It’s best if the heavyweight outer shell is 9 oz/305 gsm or heavier. The outer shell of the light grey sample coat is made from “Parker Boiled Wool Coating” (100% wool, 11.02 oz/374 gsm) by Gordon Fabrics. The brown coat is made from “Wool Dobby Autumn Leaves” (100% wool, 9.73 oz/330 gsm) by Rimmon. The linings for both coats are made from 100% linen (4 oz/135 gsm). All fabrics are from Fancy Tiger Crafts.

The TAURUS coat is available in Issue No.4

URMA by Andini Wijendaru:

The set of URMA accessories, Andini’s second design for this issue, includes a neck warmer and detachable wrist cuffs. Andini loves using leftover fabrics and scraps to create zero- waste, one-of-a-kind pieces. The URMA cuffs and neck warmer are decorative accessories for a unique statement look that simultaneously protects your wrists and neck from the autumn breeze. The layered ruffles are inspired by a tree fungus and childhood memories of adventures in the woods.

The light grey URMA cuffs and neck warmer are made from “Parker Boiled Wool Coating” (100% wool, 11.02 oz/374 gsm) by Gordon Fabrics from Fancy Tiger Crafts. The olive green accessories are made from ”Organic Melange Flannel” (100% organic cotton, 8.7 oz/295 gsm) by Lebenskleidung, and the lining is viscose (approximately 4.13 oz/140 gsm).

The URMA pattern is available in Issue No.4 and as home print pdf pattern.

TORIL by Vanessa Hansen:

TORIL is Vanessa’s second design for this issue. When Vanessa designed her patterns for this issue, she thought back to how she first started crafting, sewing, and, eventually, pattern cutting. She thought of her grandmother, who introduced her to knitting and crocheting, and of her mother, who taught her to sew. The TORIL trousers are based on the underskirt worn as part of the folk costume. You can make your version without the flounce for straight-leg everyday trousers.

The powder coloured sample with flounce is made using a fine 100% cotton corduroy (4.3 oz/145 gsm) from Tygverket that Vanessa hand-dyed with lichen (Parmelia saxatilis). The light grey sample trousers are made from "Hopea", a herringbone linen blend (50% linen, 50% cotton, 4.3 oz/145 gsm) by Kultavilla from Named.

The TORIL trousers are available in Issue No.4 and as home print pdf pattern.

CLOUD by Jasmin Henzi:

Cloud is designed by Jasmin Henzi, a Swiss communications specialist, new mother, and independent pattern designer. She is the creative mastermind behind the Sewing Patterns by Masin. Jasmin designed CLOUD as part of an upcycling project by using a second-hand bed sheet. CLOUD is the perfect pattern for beginners – you’ll learn how to sew a neckline facing and how to become a pro at making gathers. You can make a top by only attaching the first tier, a midi dress with two tiers, or a floor-length gown by adding a third tier.

CLOUD works best in non-stretch, light to medium weight woven fabrics. The gingham sample dress is made from “Garden Party Olive” (52% linen/48% cotton, 6.19 oz/210 gsm) and the petrol blue sample is made from “Organic Cotton Poplin Diesel” (3.7 oz/125 gsm). Both fabrics by Merchant & Mills from Lilly Paris.

The CLOUD dress is available in Issue No.4 and as home print pdf pattern.
