The SPIRITS trousers are easy to make and cosy for everyday use. Between sweats and wide-leg trousers, the stretchy waist of this pull-on design creates a feeling of comfort. They are perfect with either a ruffled or straight leg – the pattern is the same for both variations.

Fit and size:
Choose your size based on your hip circumference. Add a recommended positive ease of 5.5–7.8"/14–20 cm.

Maria González Leal is 61"/156 cm tall and wears the navy blue SPIRITS in size 6. The length of the trousers has been adjusted. Maryna Makarenko is 65"/166 cm tall and wears the tie-dyed SPIRITS in size 3.

Fabric recommendations:
The SPIRITS trousers work best with light to medium-weight fabrics with moderate drape. The fabric for these trousers should keep its flowiness but still resist a little. It can’t be too heavy because otherwise the elastic thread of the waistband won’t hold up the garment. You can choose a wool crepe if you want a more formal look and a cotton/poly blend if you want to keep things relaxed. The dark sample is made from medium-weight 100% wool crepe fabric in navy blue from Minerva and the tie-dyed sample is made from a cotton-polyester blend (4.13 oz/140 gsm) from the designer’s stash.

Files:
A4 (home printing) and A0 (copy shop printing) PDF files with layers, sizes nested. Sewing instructions are in a separate PDF file. As an extra, this pattern also includes “Paper saving pdf files” where each size has its own more efficient layout. If you only want to print one size, using these files is one way to reduce the amount of paper needed.
