  • The TATA dress is a loose-fitting design with an elegant fall that works well with different body types. Built from simple shapes with a single rounded cut for the neckline, the dress follows the practice of zero-waste cutting. The repetitive cutouts allow you to get super creative in your mix of fabrics, patterns, and colours.

Julie Bourgeois was born in Marseille, France. After graduating with a master’s degree in modern literature and philosophy, she moved to Berlin in 2007. Julie works for her own upcycling fashion brand, Tata Christiane, in her studio in the eastern part of the city, accompanied by a lively chihuahua. Julie loves horror movies, tries to go to the gym at 5 am every other morning, and has just learned how easy it is to make kimchi. She believes fashion is more than just clothes: it is art, and it has to wake up our authentic self.

  • Fit and size:
This dress should be very loose. It is easiest to determine your size by checking the general sewing instructions (p. 85). Choose the size that is closest to your natural body measurements. Add a recommended positive of approximately 17.7–30"/45–75 cm at the bust.

    Fabric recommendations:
Choose light to medium-weight fabrics with drape. Viscose, Cupro, silk, and light Tencel are good choices. The green and blue sample dress is made from the printed fabric “Lucie Cedar” (100% Lenzing EcoVero viscose, 3.69 oz/125 gsm) and green “Crepe Cactus” (100% viscose, 3.48 oz/118 gsm) from Atelier Brunette. The jersey (roughly 6.49 oz/220 gsm) is from the designer’s stash. Note that for thin jerseys you can double the fabric. The yellow sample is made from vintage fabrics from the designer’s stash.

  • Files:
A4 (home printing) and A0 (copy shop printing) PDF files with layers, sizes nested. Sewing instructions are in a separate PDF file. As an extra, this pattern also includes “Paper saving pdf files” where each size has its own more efficient layout. If you only want to print one size, using these files is one way to reduce the amount of paper needed.

    Delivery:
After purchasing, you will receive a link to download the PDF files. There are no delivery charges for the digital patterns, as they are delivered automatically via email immediately after purchase. PDF patterns are only eligible for return and refund if the provided download links have not been used. If the download links have been used, the product will not be refunded.
