May Community Meeting
Theme: Vintage fabric projects
Are you someone who’s drawn to old textiles, intrigued by the faded charm of floral curtains or the sturdy feel of handwoven linens? Do you find joy in transforming timeworn materials into something entirely new? If so, our latest community meeting is for you!
This month, we had the pleasure of speaking with the wonderfully inspiring Marcia Lois Riddington, whose obsession with all things vintage has led her on a fascinating creative journey. After retiring from her previous career, Marcia didn’t slow down—instead, she opened a vintage shop and embraced a lifestyle devoted to uncovering and celebrating the beauty of pre-loved textiles.
In our lively and sparkling conversation (now available to watch online!), Marcia shares what drew her to vintage in the first place, how she finds newness in the old, and why working with second-hand materials feels deeply rewarding. Her passion is infectious, and her stories—full of humour, wisdom, and joy—remind us of the magic found in every frayed edge and faded print.
So—are you using vintage fabrics in your projects, or curious to explore the possibilities? This meeting is a celebration of creative reuse and a deep dive into the emotional and artistic power of vintage materials.
✨ Watch the recording, get inspired, and join us in this global community of makers who see beauty in the old and value the stories woven into every thread. We can’t wait to see what you’ll make next!
