May Community Meeting
Theme: Vintage fabric projects
Are you using vintage fabrics for your projects, or would you like to explore the possibilities hidden in second-hand textiles? If so, this meeting is for you!
In this month’s meeting, we’ll focus on makers dedicated to working with vintage textiles. We’ll explore an interview with Ali Ferguson from Issue No. 15, where she shares how her artistic practice is deeply rooted in the history and memories embedded in vintage home textiles. Ali's work honours the past by transforming hand-embroidered letters, small stains, and worn-out parts of materials into something new and meaningful. We’ll dive into her perspective on the poetic beauty of working with vintage fabrics—one that values the fabric’s history and the hands that shaped it.
Additionally, we’ll hear from other makers featured in Issue No. 15, and we’re excited to discuss the creative process of working with vintage materials. What does using vintage fabric mean to you? Why do you choose second-hand over new materials? Whether you're an experienced maker or just curious about the possibilities, we’ll explore how vintage fabrics can inspire creativity and bring personal meaning to your projects.
We can’t wait to hear all about your creative makes using vintage fabrics and to dive into this conversation together!
