BASE by Evelyn Sitter:
The BASE dress is meant to be a basic dress for your everyday needs at home, at work, and in situations in-between – it can be a cosy friend in a comfortable jersey, a dress in a shiny viscose styled for an evening event, or your everyday summer outfit in an airy cotton. It can be transformed through its styling and has the potential to emphasize your back with its long slit and low back neckline. You can choose how much you want to show your body, wearing a shirt over it or a top underneath. Styling it with socks or stockings, you can highlight or hide your legs. The slit will allow a peek or a lasting impression.

The long-sleeved dress is made from Organic Selanik Knit (100% organic cotton, 270 g/m2) by Mind the Maker from METERMETER. The dress without sleeves is made from Single Stretch Jersey (58% viscose, 38% Lyocell Refibra, 4% elastane, 200 g/m2).

The BASE dress is available in Issue No.1
The pattern is available also as a single pdf pattern HERE.

ALEXIS and JUDITH by Kaisa Rissanen:
Kaisa is one of the two founders of the TAUKO Magazine and as a designer she gets her inspiration from the aesthetics of everyday life: a beautiful shadow on a busy street, a simple drawing by her three-year-old son, or a funny-shaped cloud in the bright blue sky. She admires gender-neutral styles, straight cuts, and practical details with a twist. “The best clothes are comfortable and create an uplifting effect.” The JUDITH jumpsuit is a timeless overall with a pointed collar and a neat button placket. It has a detachable belt and pockets on the sides. ALEXIS is a variation of the JUDITH jumpsuit – it is a relaxed unisex overall with a lot of comfort.

JUDITH is made from a vintage cotton/polyester blend (4 oz/yd2 / 140 g/m2). ALEXIS is made from Meri Rescue Hemp (100%) by Named.

JUDITH and ALEXIS jumpsuits are available in Issue No. 1.

CALENDULA and JASMIINA by Minna Konttijärvi:
Minna Konttijärvi is a Finnish pattern maker currently living in Milan, Italy. She is especially fond of sculptural shapes and fabric manipulation techniques that create interesting 3D surface patterns. Sleeves are one of her favourite subjects. When she was invited to design a pattern for TAUKO Magazine, it was obvious that the garment in question should have sculptural statement sleeves. That’s how the CALENDULA blouse and the JASMIINA dress came to be. The idea was to leave the rest of the garment relatively simple so that the sleeves could remain the absolute protagonist of the piece.

JASMIINA is made from 100% linen by Merchant & Mills from Materials.

CALENDULA and JASMIINA are available in Issue No.1

HUG and GREET by Mila Moisio:
Mila Moisio is the co-founder of TAUKO Magazine and lives in Berlin. A few years back, she found a beautiful quilted blanket at a funky design and craft event and fell in love with the idea of wrapping herself in something so warm and colourful. The thought of wearing a soft and warm cape while tapping on the computer gave the push for the HUG design. The GREET trapper hat is made with the same puffer quilt as the HUG cape, and they are a great match together. Whereas the HUG cape is a minimalistic design piece, GREET introduces a hint of Slavic humour, which Mila really enjoys. The voluminous front and lower pieces of the hat create a strong silhouette and keep your head warm

The quilted buffer designs are made from a 140 g/m2 vintage polycotton fabric that used to be a bed linen. For batting use 100 g/m2 recycled polyester.

HUG and GREET are available in Issue No.1

KIRSI by Johanna Morris:
Johanna “Jo” Morris comes from Wellington, New Zealand. Her KIRSI design is a refined take on a casual cardigan. For this design, Jo pictured the warm, cosy feeling of soft knit fabric blended with tailored lines. During the design process, she was inspired to make the waterfall opening in the front convertible to a snug collar. Jo loves to create a sense of rhythm in her designs: the curved lines are echoed throughout the garment, with the rounded collar and gently flared hem.

The long version is made from Organic Woolen Mold Sweat (90% organic cotton, 10% wool, 360 gr/m2). The short version is made from Fine Linen Knit (100% linen, 145 g/m2). Both fabrics are by Mind the Maker from METERMETER.

The KIRSI cardigan is available in Issue No.1

LEEA by Miriam Strotkötter:
Miriam Strotkötter – a designer and mother of two boys – lives and works in a small town in Germany. She wants people to feel comfortable in their clothes and bodies. That’s at the core of her designs. The result is minimalistic and timeless pieces that stand out for their shape. The LEEA dress dances around the body with its wide and simple hem while the draped sleeve creates a special design element. Miriam loves to craft her clothes from natural fibres such as the organic cotton and linen used here.

The short-sleeved version of the sample is made from 100% organic linen (160 g/ m2). The long-sleeved version is made from muslin (double gauze, 100% organic cotton, 177 g/m2). Both fabrics by Lebenskleidung.

The LEEA dress is available in Issue No.1.

TAMARA and NAOMI by Ivona Fodora:
Ivona Fodora is a designer and illustrator from Serbia, living in Helsinki, Finland. She grew up in a small border town in northwestern Serbia. The environment was a melting pot of cultures, art, and ideas. The image of elegant elderly ladies walking down the street in their colourful, flowy dresses completes the package of visual memories that offer endless inspiration for Ivona’s design work. These memories and the idea of wearing something fun and flowy inspired Ivona’s pleated designs for TAUKO Magazine. TAMARA is a dress features a base dress and two diagonally placed pleated panels. The pleats occur at irregular intervals that make the design dynamic. TAMARA is a fun and playful garment that is intended to make the wearer feel happy and comfortable.

You can make the dress from a viscose blend or medium weight cotton, approximately 4.1 oz/yd2 / 140 g/m2. Choosing a fabric with more stability will bring more structure and volume to the pleats. The Urban Leo print fabric of the sample dress is by Mind the Maker from Salapakka.

Using the same pleating technique as the TAMARA dress, the NAOMI bag is in no way minimalistic. It is a statement piece that makes you stand out, and a treasured and functional accessory. With its voluminous and fun character, NAOMI completes any outfit.

The NAOMI bag is made from a 50% cotton and 50% polyester blend (4.1 oz/yd2 / 140 g/m2) – an old, tightly woven industrial hotel textile.

TAMARA and NAOMI are available in Issue No.1

MYA by Marie Stamm:
The design inspiration for Hamburg based Marie Stamm comes from fashions of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, with a focus on compatibility with modern lifestyles and the conviction that our clothes should cater to our needs, not the other way round. When designing the MYA slacks, Marie wanted to create versatile trousers to fit any body type and gender, without compromising comfort for style. The MYA slacks are inspired by mid-century business trousers, but they are made from a lighter, more breathable fabric and take into account the wearer’s needs. They are fit for an office environment just as well as going out with friends or playing in a park with your dog.

The sample slacks are made from a vintage cotton/polyester blend (4 oz/yd2 / 140 g/m2) that used to be a bed linen. The shorts version of MYA are made from Meri Rescue Hemp (100%) by Named.

MYA slacks are available in Issue No.1

WREN by Casey Sibley:
The WREN wrap top is designed to be a quick, beginner-friendly pattern utilizing basic sewing techniques with knit fabrics. The US-based pattern designer Casey Sibley wanted to create a top that offers multiple styles and transitions easily between seasons. She loves pieces that can be layered and worn in both a casual way and dressed up a bit, for when you need to get out of the house. This top is comfy, versatile, and hackable, making it a great staple for your handmade wardrobe.

The long-sleeved top is made from Organic Selanik Knit (100% organic cotton, 270 g/m2). The short-sleeved version is made from Organic Single Stretch Jersey (94% organic cotton, 6% elastane, 190 gr/m2). Both fabrics by Mind the Maker from METERMETER.
