Pockets in German! Translation Tester Call for KEJA & TAMI PDF patterns
I have lived in Germany since 2018…
…and lived with a German-speaking partner the whole time. Yet… I do not speak the language. Why? I guess I’m just horribly frightened by the grammar. You start with an article, and if you get that wrong, the game is lost — a bit like tracing a pattern wrong and ending up with pieces that just won’t fit together.
That’s why I have huge respect for native speakers. Luckily, we have some German-speaking designers and our pattern technician, Stefanie, on the team — which means we can actually publish German translations of TAUKO patterns! I’m super happy that we can continue offering PDF patterns in German, and we want to give this translation work the attention it deserves.
Celebrate the new German translations with us!
In our latest pocket-themed issue, we feature two German-speaking designers, and we’re getting ready to launch their patterns — KEJA and TAMI — as German PDFs. To celebrate the translations, we want to invite up to 8 German-speaking testers to try the patterns and join us in celebrating the launch on 16 February!
We’re looking for testers
You’ll choose either:
KEJA (those trousers with very good pockets), or
TAMI (a bag that takes pockets very seriously)
Your task:
Read the German instructions, sew the garment, and — if you feel comfortable — share your process. We’d love for you to join the celebration on 16 February by publishing photos of your finished piece made with the German instructions.
What you’ll get
A free German PDF pattern (KEJA or TAMI)
A0 printing included — printed and delivered straight to your doorstep by SELU, a one-woman print shop in Jena
Sarah from SELU would love to see your unpacking photos and your process. She’s new to the community, and we’d love to help her connect with people who appreciate her careful, independent printing work.
Timing
Testing period: 28 Jan – 16 Feb
Please only apply if you can sew and give feedback within this timeframe
