The KEJA trousers have a comfortable, loose-fitting, barrel-shaped design. You can make the trousers in either a long or short version. The long version has various hem options. You can sew a simple hem, or add straps and buttons to secure the turned-up hem.
Create your own design by choosing from a variety of pocket styles. You can sew an additional pocket onto the side panel, e.g. for your mobile phone. Some pockets create a lot of volume, while others are sewn flat. You can also sew smaller pockets onto larger ones and add pocket flaps. You may wish to add Velcro fastenings, buttons and buttonholes, or snaps to keep the flaps closed. Add interfacing to the waistband, hem and pockets/pocket flaps where you intend to attach Velcro fastenings, buttons, buttonholes, eyelets or snaps. All of the pockets can be sewn with topstitching. You can use a thread that matches the colour of the fabric, or a different colour if you want the topstitching to be visible.
KEJA does not have a zipper, which makes it much easier to sew and very comfortable to wear. The waistband can be made from the main fabric with an elastic tape added. Alternatively, you can add a cord to adjust the width.
We chose to make the long version with flat front and back pockets. The front pockets include additional pockets, and the back pockets have no flaps. The shorter version has cargo pockets at the front, side panel pockets, and flap pockets at the back. There is a single cargo pocket with a flap on the left and a flat pocket with an integrated flap and a cargo bottom pocket on the right.
