Meridy Dunn, the creative mind behind JESSICA, drew inspiration from her vivid memories of the 1980s for this design. During this era, boxy jackets and denim trousers were all the rage. Meridy fondly remembers wearing a similar jacket for many years – a staple of her wardrobe that perfectly captured the bold style of the time.

In the 80s, denim was a different beast: there was no stretch, and squeezing into straight-leg jeans was an adventure in itself, sometimes requiring a coat hanger to pull up the zip. It was a decade in which women made strong fashion statements, with the debut of skinny jeans, big hair dominating the scene, and double denim reigning supreme. The JESSICA design channels that rock-n-roll spirit, embodying the essence of high-waisted mom jeans and the cool confidence of a bygone era.

Fabric Recommendations:
JESSICA works best in woven medium-weight denim, hemp, canvas, and twill fabrics. The tasselled sample is made in “Washed Light Denim” (100% cotton, 8 oz/271 gsm) by Merchant & Mills with denim buttons by Prym. The plain version is made in “Washed Hemp Denim in Charcoal” (100% European hemp, 10.2 oz/345 gsm) by Ecological Textiles.
