PRUDENCE is designed to be made from recycled fabrics or scraps rescued from thrift shops or vintage fairs. The simplicity of the shape lends itself to piecing together smaller pieces of fabric to make the two main pattern pieces. It can easily be shortened or lengthened depending on the amount of fabric you have available and the look you want. The pinafore consists of two main pieces and two pockets. If your fabric doesn’t allow you to cut the entire pieces, that’s fine: creative piecing can enhance the overall look.

The edges of the pinafore are bound in a contrasting fabric cut on the bias. You can purchase cotton bias binding; we recommend prefolded bias. Consider making the patch pockets in the same contrasting fabric.

The binding on the hem gives you the opportunity to use it as another design element. Alternatively, you can fold the hem by 1.6"/4 cm.

Fabric Recommendations:
Choose a medium-weight woven fabric: cotton, denim, or linen. This pattern is not suitable for slippery or knitted fabrics. The greenish-yellow sample is made in reseda-dyed linen (100% linen, 5.3 oz/180 gsm) by Pflanzenfarben-Manufaktur Magdeburg. The handprinted sample is made in “Indian Block Print” (100% cotton, 2.95 oz/100 gsm) by Karlotta Pink.
