The BILLY cargo pants were inspired by Isabelle Levine’s background in luxury fashion and growing up with skate culture. As befits cargo pants, the BILLY pattern includes plenty of pocket options! All pockets are patch pockets, so you can easily pick and choose without altering the pattern. Cargo shorts are another great variation –leave everything the same and just omit the bottom front and bottom back pieces.

Isabelle Levine is a fashion designer based in Brooklyn, New York. During her teenage years, Isabelle spent a lot of time at the skatepark, where cargo pants were a significant part of the scene. They later became a prominent style in the fashion world in the early 2000s. From skate culture to luxury fashion, cargo pants can travel across gender, age, and lifestyle.

Fit and size:
These are loose-fitting, roomy cargo pants cinched at the back waistband with elastic. Choose your size based on your hip circumference. The recommended positive ease at the lower hip circumference is 7"/18 cm.

Sophia Mitiku is 68"/173 cm tall and wears white BILLY cargo pants in size 2. Marium Durrani is 63"/160 cm tall and wears grey BILLY cargo pants in size 3 (the length of the trousers has been adjusted). The pattern comes in 9 sizes from bust width 31” / 78cm to 57.5” / 146cm.

Fabric recommendations:
The white sample pants are made using 100% linen (7.37 oz/250 gsm) from Menita. The grey sample is made using “Organic Cross Twill” (100% cotton, 6.75 oz/229 gsm) from Lebenskleidung. Woven medium-weight fabrics work best for this design. The pattern is designed for non-stretch woven fabrics.

Files:
A4 (home printing) and A0 (copy shop printing) PDF files with layers, sizes nested. Sewing instructions are on a separate PDF file. As an extra, this pattern also includes “Paper saving pdf files” , where every size has its own, more efficient layout. If you want to print just one size, using these files is a way to reduce the amount of paper needed.
