HANDPRINT: Why We Are Asking for Your Support

Over the years, thousands of people have discovered TAUKO through sewing.

Some have sewn every pattern in every issue. Others have bought their first sewing machine because of a story, an article, or a garment they saw in the magazine. Many have written to us from different corners of the world, sharing photos, questions, successes, mistakes, and unfinished projects.

And through these conversations, we have started to notice something.
Many people dream of making.
But starting can feel difficult.
Finding the time can feel difficult.
Continuing can feel difficult.

There has never been more sewing inspiration available than today. Yet many makers still find themselves searching through endless tutorials, saving projects for later, wondering where to begin, or feeling unsure how to continue when something becomes challenging.

As a magazine, we've always focused on creating carefully curated sewing knowledge through patterns, stories, and independent design.

But recently we've been asking ourselves:
What if we could do more?
What if TAUKO wasn't only a magazine?
What if it could also become a place for ongoing learning, support, and connection?

A place where people could learn from one another.
A place where beginners and experienced makers could ask questions.
A place where professional knowledge could be shared in a way that feels approachable.
A place that helps people continue, not only begin.

That is where HANDPRINT comes from.

HANDPRINT is a community-supported campaign created to help secure the future of TAUKO and develop new ways of supporting makers through clearer guidance, practical tools, online support, and shared sewing experiences.

It is not an app. It is not another social media platform. And it is not simply another magazine. It is our attempt to create a more supportive culture of making.

A place where sewing knowledge can be shared from human to human.
A place where learning can continue over time.
A place where there is always someone you can ask.

The truth is that creating something like this requires resources.

TAUKO is independently built by a small team together with a global network of designers, editors, photographers, pattern professionals, writers, and makers. We do not have investors or large media companies behind us. Everything we create exists because people choose to support it.

That is why we are asking for your help now.

By participating in HANDPRINT, you are not only receiving patterns, workshops, magazine issues, or other campaign rewards.
You are helping us build something larger. Something that supports people in beginning, continuing. Something that helps more people experience the joy, confidence, creativity, and connection that making can bring.

If this vision resonates with you, we would love for you to join us.

Together, we can build a more thoughtful, supportive, and connected culture of making.

With gratitude,
Mila and Kaisa
