Issue No.20 explores the idea of layers, not only as a practical way of dressing, but as a language of shape, rhythm, protection, and self-expression.
In this issue, independent designers from around the world explore layering through material, construction, proportion, and detail. The collection brings together light and heavier garments designed to be combined, adapted, and worn in different ways over time. Small details transform the way garments interact with one another and create entirely new silhouettes through layering.
Inside, you’ll discover sewing patterns ranging from underwear to expressive skirts, blouses and warm outer layers. Some garments explore layering through the styling itself, while others build layers directly into the construction through ruffles, gathered elements, linings, folds, and overlapping shapes. Materials shift between sheer and protective: airy cottons, translucent fabrics, soft drape, structured tailoring and heavy wool
Issue No.20 marks an important next step for TAUKO. Alongside new patterns and editorial content, the issue introduces:
a renewed layout
clearer sewing instructions and more accessible structure
improved support for different approaches to making
The goal is not to simplify sewing into fast content, but to make thoughtful making feel more approachable and sustainable over time.

HANDPRINT is a community-supported campaign helping TAUKO develop new ways of thoughtful, supportive, and connected culture of making. Running from 2nd of June to 30 June.
Through the campaign, we are creating new ways to share sewing knowledge, guidance, and community experiences — helping more people move from inspiration into making while developing their own handprint with more clarity, confidence, and less overwhelm.
As the campaign grows, new shared tools and experiences will be unlocked together, including:
improved sewing instructions and layouts
a TAUKO Making Guide
a supportive Making Calendar
online making sessions
and deeper community sewing experiences
Each milestone helps us build new ways for the TAUKO community to make, learn, and grow together through sewing.

“I look forward to receiving my Tauko issue every time. The themes are relevant, yet the designs are innovative takes. They always choose excellent fabrics and colors to showcase the designs and have the widest representation of models I’ve seen in any sewing magazine. The articles are always inspiring and encourage me to try new things in my sewing and I often find great books in their review sections. My favorite magazine! “-Caroline, Berlin
