The Yves blouse can be made as a light, airy top or dress with optional side seam pockets. The garment has a loose, breezy fit with carefully considered proportions: the shoulders are kept small while volume is shifted into the sleeves. The bust is shaped using vertical panel seams, eliminating the need for visible darts and allowing for subtle structure. The statement lantern sleeves are softly gathered at the top and cuff, with the fullness beginning slightly below the shoulder line to avoid adding width. There is a delicate opening at the back of the neck that closes with a button loop. To achieve a refined finish inside and out, we recommend using French seams throughout, particularly when working with sheer or lightweight fabrics. Flat-felled seams can also be used for medium-weight fabrics. This design lends itself well to experimenting with different fabrics. The blouse version shown in the photos is made using two cotton fabrics of different weights. A lighter, semi-transparent fabric is used for the upper centre panel and the middle sections of the sleeves.

Fabric Recommendations:
Yves works best in lightweight woven fabrics such as voile, organza, and fine cottons. The design allows the natural lightness and transparency of the fabric to shine through. This makes it ideal for layering or for playing with subtle contrasts between sheer and opaque panels.
