The Juanita bra is a soft, wire-free bra designed for comfort and ease. It is best made with a four-way stretch fabric, such as TechSheen, or a moderately stretchy knit fabric paired with power net for the back band and stretch lace for the cups. Juanita features supportive cups when paired with the right fabrics, as well as a smooth band and adjustable straps – all without underwires. Offering light to moderate support, it is perfect for everyday wear. This is a wonderful project for beginner bra-makers. You can make a plain version without any extras, add a lace overlay, or create double straps at the front.

Fabric Recommendations:
Use moderate stretch-to-stable fabrics for the cups and front band. The front of the bra (frame and cups) is best made from non-stretch (stable) fabrics. The back of the bra is always made with power net (stretch nylon/spandex mesh, typically 90%/20%). Power net comes in various weights to provide size support: regular weight, firm weight, or stabilized firm weight. TechSheen (6.48 oz/220 gsm) is a nylon/spandex blend with moderate stretch and can be accented with stretch or tulle lace. The cup lining fabric can be either sheer cup lining or bra tulle. For the back band, use power net or TechSheen, cut on the moderate stretch grainline.
